Cincinnati, Ohio is known as the “Queen City.” It was first settled in 1788 and served as the first capital of the Northwest Territory. The city was founded by General Arthur St. Clair and named Fort Washington after George Washington. In 1819, it was renamed Cincinnati in honor of the Society of the Cincinnati, an order founded by Revolutionary War officers. The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is a museum dedicated to telling the Underground Railroad story and its role in the fight for freedom. The Cincinnati Art Museum houses an impressive collection of art from around the world.
Cincinnati is also known for its rich musical history. The city is home to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which is one of the oldest orchestras in the United States. The city is also home to many other musical groups, including the Cincinnati Opera and the Reds Athletic Club Band.
